SW testing trends 2022

Time to check out the testing trends and future again as the results from our annual Testing Assembly visitor survey are ready! This is already the seventh time we have organised our survey for the visitors of the (FiSTB) Testing Assembly seminar.

Each year we have had more or less the same questions concerning the strengths and weaknesses of software quality assurance at the moment and the future trends of the field.

This year the results for each question remained incredibly similar to last year, which again were almost similar with the previous round in 2019 (there was a break due to the pandemic).

But this doesn’t mean that the testing industry has not progressed.

For example test automation has been a trend for more than a decade now. During this time we have witnessed a broad adoption of different test automation tools combined with more sophisticated CI/CD technologies.

From our point of view the testing & test automation maturity of many companies has improved significantly throughout the years. We expect the same trend to continue with ML & AI based tools, where the adoption is gradual but slowly it will pick up speed.

But now, to the results, that are once again portrayed in a form of an infographic below.
