Wolt – you know the service that helps you to tackle your hunger – is one of the most hyped start-ups in Finland and possibly soon in Europe too. And we at VALA love Wolt. Mainly because it’s current apps are an example of unusually good UX, customer service and overall quality. But also because we love start-ups in general, and Wolt is one of the best in many aspects.
So our head of creative solutions Otso got creative and realized that we could offer Wolt one of our service products, our new exploratory testing service. Soon we set a meeting, and three business days later we were onto Wolt’s software, like a mama inspecting her son’s hair after rumors about lice, searching for bugs.
What did we actually do?
We had a two-hour exploratory testing session at our office with our best testing professionals. The task was simple, test Wolt’s different apps and try to find as many bugs or functionality faults as possible. Even though the session was arranged after working hours we got 11 of us to join the session. We brought our own laptops, smart phones and tablets along and just started ordering food with the app.
Why did we want to do this?
The idea for these kind of sessions came when we were thinking of ways how to bring VALA people together to work on a mutual goal. We already have a lot of things that we do together but because our people work in various customer projects they usually only get to work together with a couple of VALA’s guys or gals at a given assignment.
Wolt had their web app release approaching, so testing its UX and core functionalities was crucial.
At the same time, our goal was to help Wolt and deepen our relationship in the process. Wolt had their web app release approaching, so testing its UX and core functionalities was crucial. Also we volunteered to test their iOS and Android applications – but that proved to be really hard due to the high quality.
What about the outcome?
The outcome for this event was an overall success. Most of all, we were able to help Wolt substantially with the quality assurance of their new web app, and Wolt was able to confirm launching schedule of the app. The second goal for the session was to gather our people to the office, work hard together for a mutual goal and have fun in the process. Well we certainly achieved this goal. We ordered food from Wolt, worked hard together and ran a small competition of who found most bugs.
I think all the parties involved agree that the session was a good idea. We will continue developing this service product of ours and making it best of the kind in Finland. Please shout out to me or anyone of us if you’re interested in this kind of service for your company!
