Once again we updated our strategy with the same comprehensive development model that has proven to be suitable for our company. Here’s the model in short:
As a result, a refreshed strategy, one that all VALA people can stand behind, was created. The big picture stayed more or less the same. Many of the changes made, were to clarify and document the core ideologies and goals in our DNA.
Take values for example. For many years our values in written form have been “Focused on people, dedicated to clients”. Now we clarified and documented the seven underlying values that have been self-evident for us for some time. These values are the very core of VALA and guide our everyday life and decisions, sometimes without us even knowing.
Another good example of clarifying and refreshing, rather than creating from scratch, is our vision. For the past few years it has been “Happiest people and customers in Finland by 2020”, or as in everyday communication just Happiest company. This vision – a harbor somewhere in the horizon, getting closer but still staying in the distance – needed something more. We don’t want to pursue happiness with all means necessary. We rather pursue it sustainably while doing good at the same time. Meanwhile, sustainable actions and doing good build the sense of meaningfulness, which again increases happiness. Thus, our refreshed vision took the following shape:
Happiest company striving for sustainable impact
Third updated major part of the written strategy is the mission. Once again, some tweaking and clarifying in the works. Two important words were missing from our previous, otherwise good, mission. The missing words were: meaningful impact and powerful culture. Some of you might see where this is going. Our new refreshed mission is:
Creating meaningful impact on our clients’ business through powerful culture, quality-focused development and automation.
Here’s the backbone of VALA in a single image.
Naturally this is just the big picture. Five separate programs, many to do lists and countless of goals were created and documented. Maybe more about those later. All in all, we will continue our journey with the same boat, heading to the same harbor. But the boat is painted and waxed!
